Relationships & Sexual Wellness Education

Classroom Presentations for Area Schools

Presentations are available for Middle School, High School & College Classrooms. Subjects for presentations are: healthy relationships, boundaries, sexual risks & similar topics.

All presentations are free of charge & can be tailored to specific class needs.

Below is a list of potential topics & descriptions.

Puberty

Reproductive health/puberty talk - this one is pretty structured and needs to be with (biological) boys and girls in separate groups. This helps a lot with comfort level, especially during Q&A. It could be squeezed into 1 class period, if necessary, but I usually get a lot of great questions in the Q&A portion so having 2 class periods to cover it all is ideal!

Advanced Reproduction Health (Female)

Right now, I can only cover female reproductive health. I go into more detail on the female reproductive system, different stages of the female cycle, hormones involved and how they can cause us to feel, different lifestyle tips for the different stages of the cycle, signs that may indicate hormonal imbalance, etc. This presentation is intended to specifically address biological sex and anatomy, not gender identity issues. This could be good for an all female setting, but isn’t required. It could be helpful for males to get a little insight into the hormonal rollercoaster that females experience each month and why they may seem confusing sometimes – and tips for how to respond to the females in their lives.

Relationships

Can be a standalone presentation or part of a sequence. I talk about identifying healthy/toxic relationships (platonic and romantic), how anyone can find themselves in a toxic relationship if they don't know what to look for, and how to guard against that. Depending on the age level, this usually leads into the Sexual Activity/Sexual Risk topic.
- Bullying is a sub-topic that I don't always cover (for lack of time), but it is an option.

Sexual Activity/Sexual Risk Avoidance

I adjust this to the age group I'm speaking to, but the main topics I cover are pregnancy, STDs, and the impact of sexual activity on relationships, mental health, and emotional well-being. I make note that some people choose sexual risk reduction ("safe sex") but that no contraceptives or protection is 100% and that waiting until marriage is the best option to eliminate risks and achieve healthier/stronger relationships. Ideal timeframe is 3-4 class sessions which includes time for Q&A, but it can be trimmed to a shorter presentation.

Parenting & Family

This includes some aspects of sexual risk avoidance, but specifically directed towards parenting. I cover statistics on family dynamics in relation to family structure and marriage, such as health of children based on presence or absence of both parents, rates of poverty, abuse, rates of relationship satisfaction, etc. I address how young people can set themselves and their future children up for success by the choices they make in their relationships today!

Love vs. Infatuation

Just what it sounds like - I describe the differences and how chemicals released in the brain affect a person's feelings, judgement, etc. - and what to do in order to enjoy the infatuation stage without letting it take over and lead to poor decisions.

Media

This could be a standalone, but is usually in conjunction with either relationships or sexual activity. The sub-topics I can cover here are sexting, pornography, and when I talk about relationships I like to talk about media in general and how it can influence how we learn about relationships, how we view other people, how we treat other people, and how we view ourselves.

Boundaries

Covers general setting of personal boundaries as well as boundaries in dating relationships. This began as a high school/college talk, but I can adjust the content to any grade level.
